Find the real problem and fix it right
Not every septic problem means a new system. Many issues are component-level repairs that a licensed contractor can fix in a day.
Common repairs
- Broken or clogged inlet/outlet pipes between the house, tank, and drainfield
- Damaged baffles or tees that let solids escape into the drainfield
- Cracked lids or risers, a safety hazard and a source of stormwater entry
- Distribution box problems sending effluent unevenly
- Root intrusion in lines
- Effluent filter clogs
How diagnosis works
- Locate and open the tank
- Check liquid level (high level points downstream; low level can indicate a leak)
- Inspect baffles, filters, and pump chamber
- Camera or probe lines as needed
- Evaluate the drainfield
Good contractors explain what they found before quoting.
